UK on course for 60% of new cars to be electric by 2030

  • Charging infrastructure keeping pace with growth of the electric car market

The UK is already on course to meet the target from the Committee on Climate Change for three-fifths of new cars to be electric by 2030, according to Chargemaster, which is closely monitoring the uptake of plug-in vehicles.

UK’s largest EV charging network grows faster than all others in 2017

  • More rapid chargers added to POLAR in 2017 than all other UK networks combined
  • Multi-million pound investment grew rapid charging network to become UK’s largest
  • For all charger types, over 43% of new points were added to the POLAR network

POLAR, the UK’s largest electric vehicle public charging network, added more rapid chargers in 2017 than every other UK-wide public charging network combined – representing 51% of the total number installed across the country.

Chargemaster launches EV charging solution for fleets and leasing companies

  • POLAR Corporate service provides single monthly subscription with multiple accounts
  • Account overview provides full traceability of costs and charging by individual drivers

Fleets and leasing companies are now able to benefit from a corporate subscription to the UK’s largest electric vehicle charging network, POLAR, with centralised invoicing for multiple users. The new service will allow fleet and transport managers to monitor charging costs centrally.

200,000 electric cars on UK roads by the end of 2018

  • Chargemaster estimates the UK will have 200,000 electric cars by the end of 2018
  • Electric car registrations rose by nearly 50% last month compared to 2016
  • Seventh consecutive monthly fall for diesel registrations, down by 30% in October

As diesel car registrations continue to decline, the electric vehicle market in the UK is expanding rapidly, and Chargemaster estimates that there will be 200,000 electric cars on UK roads by the end of next year.

One million electric cars expected on UK roads by 2022

Luton Borough Council charge points upgraded by Chargemaster following Source East closure

£500 Government support for Homecharge confirmed until March 2018 welcomed by Chargemaster
